ubuntu preseed network setup

Asked by ubuntushop

We sell computers pre-installed with ubuntu. We offer a re-install function, this is an ubuntu iso (on the harddisk)that is booted trough grub2 with a preseed file. If there is a wired network, all goes well and after installation the user is presented the first-boot screen.
But if there is no network, or a unconfigured wireless, the install fails on the mirror setup, because there is no network.
(we can ofcourse disable this)
Is there a possibilty to offer a network or wireless network setup screen or popup before ubiquity begins the install with preseed .
I believe this happens when you install with usb or cd, the installer search for an active connection and reports this when found or not found.
Can this be done with preseed?

regards,
guy

Instead of the ubuntu ISO, why not make an ISO of the configured OS on another partition and have the reinstall process be to dd the ISO over the original data? This will setup the OS fully for the user back to how they got the system.

Thanks.
Yes, I know, this should be the easy way. But I would like to take this further for the users like:
