freezing when booting from SSD - asus radeon pb

Asked by Urob

I'm using an asus motherboard F1A75-Vpro with integrated graphic chipset.
No trouble whith 12.04 or 12.10 installation as long as i use a normal harddisk.
I recently bought a ssd drive, installation was successfull, but 50% of time when booting,
computer freezes.

On a frozen boot the file kern.log ends with:

Apparently, the fact that i boot from SSD has an influence on the integrated radeon chipset.
Is it because SSD boots much faster and radeon chipset not responding fast enough?

A workaround may be to put /boot on the platter based drive then the rest of the OS on the SSD

Extra info: When i use this same SSD and insert it into another older computer, there is no problem. All works fine.

I tried out the workaround.

Fresh install:
swap, /boot, /var, /temp on platter based drive
/ on solid state drive

PC freezes 20% of time now instead of 50% ... but those figures might not be true statistically because the number of trials was only about 10

Can you help with this problem?
