32 bit to 64 bit

hi i upgraded to 11.10 works fine but i noticed it upgrade to a 32 bit system my system can handle 64bit how do i change to this, is there a command to upgrade to this .

No, changing architecture requires a complete reinstallation. Download the Ubuntu amd64 ISO from ubuntu.com and burn it to a CD or create a bootable USB key, back up all your data, then reinstall Ubuntu from the new CD/key.
