Installing Ubuntu on a laptop that I can't access the desktop of...

Asked by Joey Rabon

I am trying to install Ubuntu on my Dell Latitude D610 because something happened to a system file and I don't have access to a Windows XP disc. Is it possible to boot the installation, straight from a flash drive, and install Ubuntu like you would first install windows on the computer startup? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Yes, you can use unetbootin and make a bootable USB device, you can then boot to it and it will install the OS. Be sure to MD5 test the ISO you download before using it.

What do you mean "MD5 test the ISO"?
