Installer crashes on Mac G3 400 Pismo.

On the forum, I noticed some discussion of similar problems, but it's not clear that they a) have been reported as bugs, or b) have been resolved.
  I just received my install disc mailed from Canonical, and I can't get it to install on the G-3 Mac PowerBook. I followed some suggested remedies and still have not succeeded after many trials and reconfigurations of the hard drive.
  The problem seems to have something to do with the Apple bootstrap partition--getting that properly set up (no tech help in Ubuntu for it, only an error message that it can't find,or there is no, bootstrap partition. Despite that message, with OS X partition deleted, the Ubuntu installer completed a 98% install in the root sector it was directed to, and also acknowledged the swap partition--but then the installer crashed with the following message: Sorry, the installer has crashed; please file a bug report, etc. Following is the information that's left on the screen after the crash. Any help appreciated.

I created a bug out of this - it's not really a support question. I guess you can try using the ' install' ('alternate' ) CD to workaround the problem. In the meantime it would be really helpful if you followed up on the bug report and supplied the required information. Thanks.

I just remembered that Canonical does not ship the 'alternate' CD. You can download it from http://ubuntu.cs.utah.edu/releases/6.06/ubuntu-6.06.1-alternate-powerpc.iso

I believe this is fixed in Edgy, so I'm marking this ticket answered. If we do another point release of Dapper, this fix will be a candidate for backporting.
