Installation of Ubuntu 10.10 taking well over 5 hours and still going. what's the problem used to take 30minutes

Asked by Kashif Chaudhry

I have one laptop with the option to download and install the update and one without.
The laptop with the updates says its still downloading patches its still moving. But its been running for over 5 hours now and its still going.

After two hours of waiting i decided to setup another laptop without the updates checked and that's been running for 3 hours now, its at downloading language packs. Taking for ever to say the least. I remember when i used to be able to install Ubuntu under 30minutes what am i doing wrong.

I download the CD version from your website and created the CD. I am doing clean install with the hard drive wiped.

Downloading language packs, your Wi-fi must be the reason why it is slow. What are you running Ubuntu on?

When you installed Ubuntu, it is recommended to connect via a wired connection. Firstly, some WIFI drivers are missing or not working from Ubuntu CD, and new drivers needs to be downloaded via wired network. Secondly, it's faster! By booting from Ubuntu CD with "Try" option, could you check speed of your network.

Can you help with this problem?
