installation-report: Fails to detect CD

Asked by etnba

Hi All,

I meet a problem in Ubuntu 10.10(Marevrick).
SATA DVD drive not detected when I plug a DVD drive to SATA 3.0 port and set SATA controlloer to IDE mode.
If I plug DVD drive to SATA 2.0 port and set SATA controlloer to IDE mode, DVD drive can be detected.
If I plug DVD drive to SATA 3.0 port and set SATA controlloer to AHCI mode, DVD drive can be detected, too.
I am failed to file a bug. Can somebody help me?
Thanks

At bottom of page, there should be a button to convert this question into a bug. I'm afraid this question is to technical to get answer on this part of forum. You could also request help at ubuntuforums.org .

Hi delance,

Thanks for your reply. I can 't find the button that you meant. Do you mean the button 'Link existing bug'? Could you pleasse provide mode details?

I am grateful for your assistance.

Sorry, I'm wrong. I thought there is a button (perhaps there was before) but I check, and it doesn't exist. You have to open a bug, and then to link question to bug number. I don't know to which packet link the bug. As it is a removable media try "udev". It seems there is currently some issues in the way Ubuntu mount devices (DVD, USB flash memory or NTFS disk).
