I can't check my filesystem for errors can you help me

okay so when i go to try to check my filesystem for errors I get this, an error occurred while performing a operation on my filesystem( partition ATA WDCWD1600BEVT-22A23To) system busy then for details it says Device is mounted and no online capability in fsck tool for file system, any body know how to fix this

ou shouldn't fsck mounted partitions, do it in a liveCD

i need some help also, After i formated my drive to install ubuntu. everything was going fine untill the end when i got an error, the install went ahead and os was installed but i get this same error. Device is mounted and no online capability in fsck tool for file system....plz help

Could you explain more. I don't see relationship between install and fsck.
