Installationprobleme mit Windows7

Asked by Solarbhoy

Hallo,

Hi
Can you post your problem in english? Also google translate says your having a problem in manual partitioning but it doesnt say what the problem is exactly.

ok Rohan, I will try it in English:
I tested Ubuntu 10.04 64bit with live CD and wanted to install it in parallel with an existing Windows 7 version. I have seen in several pictures that it is possible to choose this option, but when I came to this step in the installation the option was missing.
I might have delete everything and use the whole disc space or do a manual configuration of the partitioning table which is simply to much for me.
So my question is if anyone has an idea why I did not get option to install ubuntu in parallel to Windows 7?
Thank you very much!

Ok,this particular issue might be due to the fact that the installer ( ubiquity ) does not find enough contiguous free space on your partitions to be able to perform a parallel install, that is why you have to manually edit your partition table to be able to install ubuntu.
What you can do is try and make about 7-8 GB of free space on your C: drive and then run the installer again, then it might be able to install it alongside windows. But im not entirely sure that it will work.

I just added ~20GB to C: and D: drives, but the result was the same...
I will ask a colleague to come along and try the manual way!

Thank you for you support Rohan!

Hi
Ok, i hope your colleague can install ubuntu by manually editing the partitions, apart from that there are many guides available on how to manually partition your HD with ubuntu,so you can go through them at your own leisure
And i hope you have a awesome ubuntu experience :)
