Can't search properly/Connect to users

Asked by Bob Dole

I've been using DC++ for years, and had version .868 up until recently. The other day it stopped searching properly (it would only search one hub) and wouldn't connect to the very few users that came up in the search (and they all say 0/0 slots). I upgraded to version .870 and am still having the same problem. My firewall has always been set to allow DC++ to work, so I'm not sure what else would be causing the problem. I've even tried selected active mode manually, but the same problem occurred. It's very strange that this just popped up out of nowhere after working perfectly for so long. This PC is only about a year and a half old, and is running Windows 10. Does anyone know what else could be causing this? Thank you for any help you can provide!

So, I've switched over to Passive mode, which I was very hesitant to do because everything kept saying it has serious limitations. However, everything seems to be working as well as it did before... Now I'm just totally confused as to why Active mode suddenly stopped working.

Switch back to automatic setup and check the detection log for any clues. Also a /connection chat command's ( https://dcplusplus.sourceforge.io/webhelp/chat_commands.html ) output may help.

Yeah, the detection log isn't showing any errors, so not sure what the problem with Active mode is.

Forgive my ignorance on the matter, but is Passive mode really bad? As in, does it have any kind of negative effect on the system? Like I said before, it seems to be working like it did under Active mode, so I'm not sure what the limitations are.
