Is TriaxialStressController specific for boxes or could it be used for cylinders

Asked by yogesh

Hey,
I wanted to ask the following:
Is TriaxialStressController specific for boxes or could it be used for cylinders?

I want to achieve the following:
1. generating an Isotropic Stress State for Cylindrical Sample until a required porosity is achieved, followed by
2. stress controlled cyclic loading

Please help me with it.
Thanking you in advance,

Yogesh

Saturday is not the best time to ask urgent questions :-)

from documentation [1]: "An engine maintaining constant stresses or
constant strain rates on some boundaries of a parallepipedic packing. ...".
So according to the documentations it is not designed for cylinders.

you can have a look at [2], it is a script for compression with lateral
confining stress modeled by loaded facets. After some modifications
(introducing the same concept also for axial direction) it may be what you
want

It depends on the definition of cyclic loading (axial compression?), but
basicly it should not be a big problem..

Hi yogesh, if you don't insist on Yade, you can check out Woo cylindrical triaxial test (with membrane boundary): http://woodem.eu/doc/woo.pre.html#woo-pre-cyltriax HTH, václav

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask yogesh for more information if necessary.
