Can xpad save modification to files opened with -f?

Asked by Zoltan Kundi

Currently it creates a new note at ~/.config/xpad with he same content, which of course is expected behaviour, but is it possible for it to save it back to the original file somehow? Like use it as a text editor in this way.

Hi Zoltan,

Xpad does not have this functionality in it, to save it back to the original file.
I am not sure if that is a scenario that fits well for a scratch note application.

As you state yourself, it is probably better/handier to use a full-blown editor.

What is the reason you want to use Xpad as an editor?

The main thing is, that I want to have notes stored at different locations, for example little to-do lists pertaining to certain directories or projects.

Anyway I've found a workaround, by creating the notes inside Xpad, but then editing the info-{id} file from ~/.config/xpad to say
content ../../path-to-file

instead of
content content-{id}

Just putting it out here in case anyone wants to do the same.

Your notes are kept in the folder /.config/xpad. Your notes are in files with the name content-******, where * is an original string of random characters. Open Nautilus (Files) and navigate to that folder. Your notes for that pad will be visible when you open one in a text editor.
