webserver stays blank

Asked by Manfred Kupper

I installed new xibo-server-163.
I went trough the documented install guide.
I have already a library but I also set the chown to www-data.www-data -R
I restarted apache2.
Here are all files in /var/www/xibo:
3rdparty install.php maintenance.php services.php xmds.php
config lib manual theme
index.php LICENSE.txt modules upgrade.php
install locale README.TXT

In my webbrowser there is only a blank screen http://myserver/xibo

I don't want to set all directories to chown 777 like Harry solved his problem. I tried with /xibo it looks now like this:
drwxrwxrwx 10 www-data www-data 4096 22. Sep 17:46 xibo
I still can't reach the webserver.

best regards
Manfred

Blank screen normally means you have too old a version of PHP

What version are you running? It needs to be at least 5.3.3

Hi Alex,
as usual you are right.

server /var # php --version
PHP 5.2.6-1+lenny16 with Suhosin-Patch 0.9.6.2 (cli) (built: Feb 3 2012 13:17:21)
Copyright (c) 1997-2008 The PHP Group
Zend Engine v2.2.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2008 Zend Technologies

This is defenitly not version php 5.3.3

Is there a way to update to 5.3.3?

Manfred

I'll ask again - what version of PHP are you running. Latest is not the
correct answer

You would need to ask Google or an appropriate forum for your OS

May I continue this fork?

I refreshed our outdated server and got back to xibo 142.
Now there starts the installer, but whatever I put into the fields always this comes up:

Could not connect to MySQL with the Xibo User account details. Please check and try again.

MySQL Error:
Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)

What is wrong here?

Regards
Manfred
