Export/ Import Layouts

Is there any idea for the export / import of layouts and all associated objects? For us as a service provider and content provider that would be a very useful feature.

Some code has been contributed to do that already, we haven't had the time to integrate it yet but hope to do so for 1.5 (1.6 stable).
