Region backgrounds - no plan. With the Linux client you can simply
stack regions so there's no need for region backgrounds.
Online Preview - it would be nice, but it's very complicated. Perhaps
in time. It's far better to preview with an actual client as you'll
get proper output as it will actually appear.

just tried, window client can't have region overlays.
So ideally we have these 2 features, I can volunteer to do some development
work.

It's not that simple Jason. The windows client doesn't have that
feature because it's basically impossible to implement with it in it's
current state. We don't have the time or inclination write that from
scratch.
In the short to medium term, the same codebase that runs on Linux will
come to Windows and solve that problem.
If you wanted to work on improving the previews then that would be
more worthwhile.

understand, several issues in the latest release:
the default layout, almost impossible to edit/release the only region's 2
elements, the mouseover windows always block the dit/delete actions.
template: can only keep the region's coordinates, no contents kept, very
often, we need to eep contents of most regions and change contents of a few
reguions, any plan to do it?
Thanks,
Jason

If you're talking about very small regions, you can right click and
use the manual region positioning to amend those regions. If you mean
something else then it's not something I've come across.

There's already a blueprint for layout export/import preserving media.
If you want to copy a layout, complete with it's media then that
functionality is already present.

OK, understand the layout copy.....the server got only release 1.2.1, not
1.2.2, seems the region's "preview" worse than previous versions, eg, a text
region with the texts "previewed" below the region's boundary.
In the default layout, or any layout, with 2 elements in the timeline, if I
want to delete/edit the elements, I mouse over the elements, then you come
out a small window blocked the edit/delete links, the only solution: scroll
down the scroll bar, then mouse over windows will show below the clickable
edit/delete links, then I can click them to do what I want.
Thanks,
Jason

There are some issues with text preview - but there always have been.
It's already targetted.

Sounds like you need to clear your browser cache. I don't have that on
my 1.2.2 install using Chrome, Firefox or IE.
The popup appears under the links.

Hi, Alex,
Understand most issues you explianed, but don't understand how come the new
version could diaplay the text below the region if it's the only content we
assign to the region, see the attached image captured from the default
layout. Similiarly, if we specify image as the only media in the region, the
image also displayed outside below the regions.
No such problems in the old version at all. Anyway to reset back? also could
highlight the region borders? As shown in the attached pic, the border hard
to be viewed at all.
Thanks,
Jason

Launchpad answers doesn't support attachments. Can you upload your images
somewhere and link to them please.

here you are:
http://
also mention the region border's problem.
Another problem for 1.2.1: the mouse over edit/delete buttons after double
click the region, overlay the original edit/delete buttons,
so it becomes very difficult to do edit/delete of the media items in the
region as shown here.

Your first image doesn't load. I don't have the problem you're showing in
the second image, but it looks to me like your screen resolution of browser
window is very small. How big is it? Can you give complete screen shots
please as a tiny cropped area isn't helpful.

thank for your instant reply, I'm using a standard laptop, the resolution
should not be a problem. Do load the 1st image with patience, the server is
a bit slow.....

The add media items are wrapping on to more than one line in your second
screenshot. It's because the browser window or your screen resolution is too
small.
Your first link still doesn't work.
If you won't provide the information I'm asking for then I'm afraid I can't
offer you any further help.

I managed to get the first screen shot open - it looks suspiciously
like you do not have all the CSS being served to the client correctly
(perhaps you need to clear your cache).
Which browser are you using?

Great that Dan can view the 1st jpg, it's odd that I downloaded the 1.2.1
server.zip file and put them in the server in its entirety.
which css file related to this? are you sure not because the new version
introduce some new bugs?
Alex, checked my laptop's resolution is 1280x800, for other desktop, we also
got the same problem.

Here's screenshots from 1.2.2:
Edit/Delete popups are not covered:

Text/pictures do not render outside the regions:

Which browser are you using and on what OS?... could you try a
different browser to see if it works on there? There are no known bugs
with the functionality you are using (as Alex's screenshots show).

thank you, Alex & Dan,
I did a fresh install and the problems disappeared...
But my concern of the region border still holds, hard to identify the region, with the only bottom right small triangles....could put a virtual border for the regions?

It's only really an issue where you have a white background. All the
rest of the time it's easy to pick out.
We could potentially look at adding a border.
Alex
Can you help with this problem?
Provide an answer of your own, or ask jason for more information if necessary.
