Xibo client won't update presentation?

Asked by jai555

Hi Xibo guys,
I just install new xibo and xibo seems to be very fantastic for me. But there's little problem occured....

Why my xibo client won't update the presentation i changed in the server??? Even though i remove the layout i used, the client still shows that layout? How can i force the client to refetch presentation data????

In the Xibo Client Options in the box 'The collection interval for content', what does this box mean???? The number units in minutes or seconds???

Thank you for every answer....
Feeling great to join Xibo!!!

Oh... I found Xibo bug!!!???

The problem is because i run client and server on the same machine...

The changes apply when i run client on other machine!!!

If client and server are on the same machine there is still update problem!!!!

Should i inform bug track system???

Thank you all...

What happens if you try deleting the files from the library and then reloading the client? Not ideal for real use, but this would tell the developers whether or not the files will download correctly again.

You can find the location of the library from the client settings.

It should be something like c:\documents and settings\USERNAME\xibo library

Xibo should work fine if the client is running on the same machine as the server (that is actually how I develop the client). The collection interval is the number of seconds between each time the client checks for new content on the server.

How long did you wait to see if the client would update? The default collection interval is 900 seconds (5 minutes).

What sort of media did you have on the client?

Matt's suggestion of deleting the client library files is a good idea, the client should then redownload all the resources at the next collection interval. You can get the library location from the Xibo Client Options.

1.I've changed the collection interval to be 15,but the software force it to be not less than 30, so mine is 30...

2.That i said it worked when client was running on other machine, now it is not working. After 30 minutes of auto downloading changes, not that client is no longer updated with the server.

3.What sort of media? One rss-feed box, one picture box and one text box... I've tried changing the boxes by insert and remove boxes, but the client still won't update. I also tried changing layout for the display ID, the client still won't update, and also if i delete that layout the client still show old layout it remembered...

4.Thank Matt for the suggestion. After deleting library, the client now re-fetch new updates and it starts working fine again!

I think the problem is at refetch routine in the software itself, I have to manually remove old library for it to get new changes...

Thank you very much guys for the answer....

I've just looked at your other question about Thai RSS feeds... this will most likely be the problem, there is an issue with the 1.0.5 client that doesn't like UTF8 characters.

You could try replacing your client installation files with the ones here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/353651/XiboClient-1.0.7-test.zip

Stop the client before overwriting the files...

Can you confirm if this worked for you or not?

I confirm that if i manually remove ./library folder, the client will refetch the prosentation....

But if i don't manually remove the library folder, the client will still 'some time' refetch and 'some time' present old one in its cache...

Should this be 'Problem solved'???

You should not be removing the folder, only its contents and only on the one occasion we asked you to do that.

You should not be routinely deleting anything in that folder.

Did you install the 1.0.7 binaries as instructed?

If so, create a new layout and schedule only that layout for an hour. Then once that layout us running, make a small change to it and then wait a few minutes for it to update.
