Wubi

installing in windows

I have installed Ubuntu on 3 laptop computer all with out problems. Ubuntu was installed within windows 7. On the desktop it only wants to install along side and not within windows 7 what is my problem Help

Hi donald Hinrichs. There are a couple of ways to install Ubuntu inside Windows.

Option #1
Assuming you have both the .ISO and wubi.exe, put them on the same folder in Windows and double-click wubi. The installation is guided:
1. which partition Ubuntu should be installed and hard drive allocation
2. username and password
3. accessibility options
4. hostname, and
5. a few other basic things

Option #2
Assuming you have the Live CD/USB, you just to need to run the CD and the same window and options you will see.

Using the same CD that I used for the laptops does not work the same in the
desktops. When I open the CD I have the list of files and the last one is
the wubi. I have double clicked on the file using the Laptops and
everything works fine In the Desktops I get a message there is no disk in
the drive. Of course I opened the file using the CD disk Drive.

If I boot the computer using the CD I get the options to run Ubuntu on the
disk or to install Ubuntu. I want Ubuntu to be run as a program in windows.

How about you trying Option #1? To get the .ISO, you can a program like CDBurnerXP.

I assume your desktop is also running Windows 7. Right?

Please review the bug I linked to. If that is the "No disk" message then review the bug report for workarounds or click through the error dialogs.
