ubuntu 11.04 installer error "permission denied"

trying to install ubuntu 11.04 (wubi dual boot with vista basic 32-bit as well as linux) but am getting the error of "PERMISSION DENIED" constantly...i keep getting the error message "view log file"...that too mid-way of the installation process....

shrunk main drive(have just one)
disabled firewall
disabled antivirus
turned off paging
cleared temp files

what more should i do?.....y is linux being such a frreakin pain???

The log file is in the %temp% directory. Click "Start icon" and enter "%temp%\wubi-11.04-rev211.log". You can use http://pastebin.ubuntu.com to post the results (return the pastebin link here).

Generally, you don't need to shrink the windows drive to install with Wubi - wubi installs on a virtual disk so you can install it on any windows partition.

"Permission Denied" can mean a lot of things and the easiest is by looking in the log file, but it could be:
1. bad cd if installing from cd
2. firewall problem if running wubi.exe standalone - bittorrent client being blocked
3. many other things...

am installing it online via the website support
firewall's disabled

The problem is the bittorrent downloader:

DownloadError: Problem connecting to tracker - HTTP Error 400: Bad Request

If your firewall is disabled then there must be another firewall blocking the bittorrent download.

So... the best is to download the ISO yourself using your browser - from here: http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/download
Save the ISO in the same folder as the wubi.exe you downloaded (both must be in the same folder). Then run wubi from that location and it will use the ISO without downloading a new one.
