Wubi - Ubuntu 10.04.1 Installation

Having installed Ubuntu 10.04.1 by wubi from XP I cant boot to start Ubuntu. The install app let me 2 options in windows loader. 1.- Windows Xp Professional. and 2.- Ubuntu. If I acces the frist option I get access to Windows Xp correctly but if select 2. ubuntu it show me the grub screen with the option to boot Windows XP but it tries to upload ubuntu instead, with this error !Unkown command drivemap!". I think this command is in the grub config file but I dont know why is unkown. And more I think that it is not necessary another boot loader just one boot loader must be enough for both OS.

Since you installed it using Wubi, have you tried reinstalling it in Windows?

The wubi installation was made from XP. I Run wubi within XP and then install Ubuntu. The problem seems to be that wubi isn’t capable of create a complete bootable menu in windows loader, that link you to grub. It just create 2 options 1 XP; 2 Ubuntu. The Option one is Ok I can boot correctly into XP, but not into Ubuntu. When I select Ubuntu it redirects me to the grub screen. It shows me a menu option saying “Windows XP Professional” but when I select that option it tries to load Ubuntu with the error “ unknown command drivamap! And return to the first screen.
Several things to comment
1.- Is drivemap a normal command for Grub or Grub2
2.- Which version of Grub does the wubi installation, install?
3.- BY the time the system is trying to boot Ubuntu I can esc to de grub command line. Is there any way to start Ubuntu form here?

Did you click on the second SKIP button during the install? This appears to bypass the installation of the lupin package required for wubi. The result is that the grub menu does not have any ubuntu menu entries (bug 620028)

The solution is to reinstall wubi without pressing SKIP.

Yes some time during the install I must click skip because the install program seems to hung up, and this way it continue with the install process.
