Garmin Communicator download/compatibility issues

I am trying to download Garmin Communicator 3.0.1 so I can update my Garmin GPS. I get a message on the Garmin site that I need a compatible browser. The list of browsers includes Chrome & Firefox both of which I have tried to no avail. I can download the file but it won't open. Help!

I read Garmin Web site. The software works under Windows and MacOS, but not Linux.
You could run this software on a Linux machine:
   - you install Wine package ( set of libraries compatible with Windows )
   - you install a virtual machine (like Virtual Box or VmWare), install Windows inside, and after the software

Can you help with this problem?
