Why does trunk show version number 8.2.0b?

Asked by Andreas Gustafsson

If I do "bzr branch lp:vm" as documented at https://launchpad.net/vm/trunk,
I get a copy of VM where the vm-version variable contains "8.2.0b". I would
have expected the trunk to have a different (higher) version number. Does
the trunk contain the wrong version number, or do I have something other
than the trunk?

The trunk doesn't have a version number. The version number in the code
would be whatever version was issued from it last, in this case "8.2.0b".

The trunk is under bzr revision control. You can find out the latest
revision by doing `bzr log -l1'.
