[Unity] New Maverick netbook interface

upgraded yesterday to Maverick and can't stand the new unified desktop. It runs slows (clicking on applications takes over 10 seconds to load) however the most bothersome part is the toolbar on the left doesn't hide or go away which makes windows (web browser, word doc, pdf) not fit onto the screen fully so I have to scroll not only horizontally but vertically. Ok now onto my request:

1) who do we need to petition to get the old lucid UNR back, according to this post it's gone: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1592796

2) If I can't get it back how do I uninstall 10.10 and revert back to 10.04?

The short term solution for me at the moment is to use the normal desktop login which works far better than the netbook login, but can't be permanent because some of my apps don't run well with it because of the smaller screen size.

Regarding horizontal scrolling: In firefox, hitting ctrl - (minus) reduces web page sizes, eliminating horizontal scrolling on many pages. The zoom for paper based files (pdf, doc, etc) should help for other formats.

I can still log in to the old version of netbook remix, I think. Log out of your session and when you go to log back in I believe there is an option for netbook 2d edition?

Also, F11 will make browser full screen. For chrome there is a plugin to allow a minimal topbar to appear in full screen mode, but it just works in firefox.

The only way you are going to get the 10.04 interface back is to re-install 10.04

There is no easy way to go back to 10.04.
The process is:
   backup "/home" directory on external disk, at least all files and folder whose name start with a point
   reinstall 10.04
   restore "/home" (if you have a dedicated "/home" partition, you can try to skip this step)
If you have a dedicated "/home" partition, it will not be erased by installation (don't check "format"!).
If you have not, I advise you to make two partitions:
  - a 1st one of 10GB for "/"
  - a 2nd one with remaining space for "/home"
If your 10.04 was up to date, you should have quite same software versions than in 10.10, and preferences files should work.
