some important features

Hello. I found unity 2d is good, but It doesn't have some features that I need:

1. It will be good if you add posibility to use gnome panel applets. I need to see temperature sensors and cpu/memory usage. Top panel always visible, so it's a good place for this applets (near system tray in right top corner)
2. Sometimes I need to run more than one copy of program. It will be very comfortably if I can click on icon by right mouse button and select "Run copy" option
3. It will be good if left panel will have area that don't scrolling for some icons. It comfortable to put there shutdown and logout buttons or button that hide all windows or lock screen.
4. Unity need some control panel. Today I need go to System Programs and seek for program that I'll use for editing settings. It will be more comfort if Unity will have control panel that have all programs in different categories (input devices, appearance, networking, etc).

I very like Unity 2D and I hope you will realize this features.

Unity is only available for Natty. If you download the beta and can put it on a cd or a flash drive - and than try booting your computer off of it and hopefully your grapshics card will support unity. There is also a unity-2d version for Natty as well. I am running 11.04 with unity-2d on m;y laptop.

In unity-2d in Natty (soon-to-be-released), you can middle-click a tile to start a new instance of the application.

In the Natty version, there is a fixed area at the bottom of the launcher (aka the dock). It currently only contains the trash can.

Unity itself doesn’t control the system’s configuration. To change settings, try executing gnome-control-center.

If I will write a program that will write a system monitor and sensors in tray, how can I add it to unity? Can I create new panel near the tray for applets?

yes, it working. It good to add it to panel by default.

You should probably use application indicators instead. See http://unity.ubuntu.com/projects/appindicators/ for documentation.
