Booting from an SD Card

My question is. I have a laptop and cannot repartition my hard drive any further for a Linux Mint install because it already has 4 partitions as it is an HP with various partitions already for sytem tools and recovery. So I thought I could use an SD card for the boot up and install the Linux Mint on that. Your program appears to allow me to do that. HOWEVER, my concern is that I would not be able to update that software on the SD card or to add software for future use. I would be concerned that I would be starting from scratch every boot up. If I install the Linux Mint on the SD card, will it save all these changes?

With persistence ( https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LiveUsbPendrivePersistent ) it'll save some, though not all of your changes. If you want to do a full install on your SD drive (that way, it'll be faster), then you can't actually use UNetbootin; you'll have to boot Linux Mint using some other medium (say, another USB drive), then install to the SD drive from there.

So what would be the process to install this to a USB drive and just forget the SD Card? And would it operate well?

procedure, in general, is:

use UNetbootin to make some live media (say, liveUSB) from which you can launch the linux mint installer

then boot off said liveUSB and launch the linux mint installer

instruct the linux mint installer to install linux mint to your SD card (look up howtos on this, it's the same procedure as if you were launching the installer from a liveCD)

You must have secure boot enabled in the BIOS, for this keep tapping F10 to get BIOS screen, Navigate to System Configuration and Click on Boot Options, Aging press F10 and save The change. restart your laptop. still struggling with then you may contact https://www.hpsupporthelpline.com/ you might get help from here.
