You are aware that a network connection is required for UCK to work?

/etc/resolv.conf is a file created by the network support in Ubuntu as soon as a machine is connected to the Internet.

Its purpose is to allow programs access to the Domain Name Service (DNS) required to map friendly names (like answers.launchpad.net) to Internet Addresses (like 91.189.89.224).

A non-existent /etc/resolv.conf therefore is a strong hint that there is no working Internet connection on your machine.

UCK will not work without an Internet connection, and as soon as your machine has one, resolv.conf will exist.

Got same error, newer Ubuntu does not have always the file, even if you have perfectly working networking. See http://askubuntu.com/questions/137037/networkmanager-not-populating-resolv-conf for similar issue and possible workaround.

Can you help with this problem?
