screen resolution xorg asus

Asked by Susan Cragin

I have just purchased an ASUS GI with the following screen:
# Graphics: NVidia GeForce Go 7700. PCI Express, 512MB true dedicated VRAM
# Screen: WSXGA+ 1680x1050 Resolution, Glossy finish.

Ubuntu Studio Hardy daily build does not recognize the screen.

sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
does not help.

Not exactly uncommon.

I am assuming that you have selected the 1680x1050 resolution from the dpkg-reconfigure menu.

If it fails after that, make certain that your refresh rate matches your monitor's description.

The quickest way to do this is generally editing xorg.conf, but dpkg-reconfigure should allow you to do this as well.

Can you help with this problem?
