Sync computers bypassing online storage?

Can you or will you be able to sync files between computers without uploading to the U1 website? If you choose to bypass online storage, would those files count towards your quota?
Wondering, because I would like to sync quite a bit of data, exceeding the 10GB limit.

If you bypass online storage, it may be much more efficient to just use rsync?

We currently plan to enable local syncing of files as an optimization to save uploading and then re-downloading in the post-Karmic timeframe, but the files would still be ultimately uploaded to your online storage, so no plans to bypass that completely.
