Yeah, it seems to have that option. I'm kind of new to ubuntuone, but when you click on a file, to the right there's a box with info about it, and one option is to download the file.

So, yeah it supports that.

Doug

indshakti, firstly I think you are asking the question at the wrong place , but hey i am new to this launchpad myself.
As far as I understand this launchpad is only for ubuntu one storage testing.

I will however attempt to answer your question.

In terms of internet browsing there is no difference betweeen Ubuntu and Xbuntu.
yes seeing the machine spec you have i would say just run Ubuntu. Xbuntu is a lighter version of Ubuntu because it uses a lightweight desktop, and Ubuntu uses Gnome desktop.

how are you measuring your download speed?
can you verify that performing a speedtest at for example www.speedtest.net is faster in xp then in Xbuntu?
also how are you connecting to the internet? wireless or wired ?
I can think that maybe if you are using wireless , that there could be a wireless driver issue that can cause the slow connection speed to your router and hence slower download speeds, but if you are connecting wired then there should be no issue at all.
there are a lot of other issue's that could be the cause of your scenario , you might be better asking this question in a forum such as http://ubuntuforums.org/ rather then this launchpad.

in term of how to install ubuntu over Xbuntu , well either you re-install it fully by using a ubuntu DVD (best option) or you acces synaptics and install gnome dektop and then during startup select gnome as default desktop.
but again the guys in http://ubuntuforums.org/ will be able to help you better then me .

hope this helps.
