not able to download youtube video after installing youtube-dl

Interesting, dailymotion gives - ERROR: unable to extract uploader nickname but metacafe seems to working fine. I found this started this morning and upgraded (-U) to no avail.

you are missing the quotes around the url.

youtube-dl "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2FpDDEVWtk&feature=channel"

or
youtube-dl 'http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2FpDDEVWtk&feature=channel'

Try using the firefox extension "unplug"

Just done "sudo youtube-dl -U", all fixed with youtube but still getting the nickname error on dailymotion.

I've got the same issue on Arch Linux...
And I can't upgrade with -U option, as the package on archlinux is based on python2 (not python, because of http://www.archlinux.org/news/python-is-now-python-3/)

I did notice yesterday that it upgraded to "github" version rather than a version number whereas now I have - youtube-dl -v
2010.12.09.

Try to Update youtube-dl. It may help you

"sudo youtube-dl -U"
