za.archive.ubuntu.com resolves to UK IP

Asked by Willem Dreyer

Good day all,

While I was typing question, the people in #ubuntu-mirrors on freenode.net advised me of a workaround. If you modify your sources.list to "http://ubuntu.mirror.ac.za/ubuntu-archive/". I believe this site is hosted by tenet.

Original message:
I've got a local only (national-ZA) internet connection. The domain za.archive.ubuntu.com is resolving to the following address:
;; ANSWER SECTION:
za.archive.ubuntu.com. 500 IN A 91.189.88.46
za.archive.ubuntu.com. 500 IN A 91.189.88.30
za.archive.ubuntu.com. 500 IN A 91.189.88.31
za.archive.ubuntu.com. 500 IN A 91.189.88.40

I double checked on various dns lookup sites online, just to make sure it's not just me. http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/ipall/?tool_id=67&token=&toolhandler_redirect=0&ip=91.189.88.46 shows the IP belongs to GB. I have Release: 9.10 Codename: karmic so it's not the case where I need to upgrade because the release is too old.
