how ubuntu varies from fedora

I want to know how Ubuntu is different from Fedora or CentOS distros.

There are a lot of differences between the too. The objectives of each project, the package manager, the politics, the default set of applications, etc.

Most importantly, Fedora is based on Red Hat, so as CentOS, while Ubuntu is based on Debian.

I believe the best way to proceed, if you're thinking about which one to install, is to give them both a try. CentOS is more commonly used on servers, even though nothing prevents you from installing it on a workstation.

As ubuntu has more users, it is also easier to find more articles and documentation in general.
