capture video from minolta dimage z1

Asked by johm mcconnell

Sorry to bother you again. I have a Dimage z1 minolta digital camera that can also shoot short video clips. I have no problem retreiving photos with f-spot, however, i would love to be able to capture those video clips so i can burn some dvds for my far away relatives. i installed Kino, and it says it cannot capture the clips. i tried it in pal AND ntfs(?) mode and both times it failed.
would anyone have any ideas on this subject. I noticed in the kino docs that kino dosent capture over a usb device?? perhaps that is the problem, but to which there would be no solution, i think.
thank you so much for your kind help to a total newbie
John

I accidently discovered how to do this. I booted up my usb camera and instead of trying to load it into Kino, MoviePlayer,,etc. i clicked on OpenFile. Wahla,,,the movies magically appeared there.
Then i copied them and placed them in my documents/videos . from there, if i double click them, they will play on Movie Player.
