problem with media files

Hi,

I've installed ubuntu 5.10, and my newly installed os won't play any mp3 or any movie (avi, mpg, mov) files. I haven't 'touched' any settings of the token movie player or the rhythmbox music player, so can you tell me how to get things going?

Hi,

Ubuntu cannot legally include an mp3 codec on the CD. Please see
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/RestrictedFormats for more information and
instructions on how to get it working.
