I changed volume setting to ntfs on usb drive and it will no longer mount.
Feel like a super noob. I was playing around with my new Kingston thumb drive and saw that it was FAT32 file system. For fun I typed "ntfs" in the File System box under the Volume tab while examining the drive's properties.
I now get
"Cannot mount volume" Details : NTFS signature is missing. Failed to mount '/dev/sdc1': Invalid argument The device '/dev/sdc1' doesn't have a valid NTFS. Maybe you selected the wrong device? Or the whole disk instead of a partition (e.g. /dev/hda, not /dev/hda1)? Or the other way around?
I cannot get back to the volume tab to change it back ! It is no longer there.
Thumb drive works fine on windows XP and XUBUNTU on my laptop, but will no longer mount on my desktop with UBUNTU. I should have never fooled with it. It does not seem to have changed the settings on the thumbdrive itself, still shows up as fat32 both on XP and xubuntu. Must be some association setting in ubuntu. Help please.
