Cannot mount memory card
I have a memory card reader for my digital camera. I am currently running Ubuntu Hardy on a dual-boot with Windows XP on a Sony Vaio machine. I recently got a new 2 GB memory stick for my digital camera. Whenever insert it into the memory card slot I get an error message that reads "Cannot mount volume", under details tab I get: "mount: /dev/sde1: can't read superblock". However, when I insert the 1 GB memory card Ubuntu detects it like it's supposed to. What's the problem? Does the new card need formatting? I tried seeing if Windows XP would read the 2 GB card and Windows said the card needed formatting but I tried using the 2GB card in a friend's machine and everything was fine; the 2 gig card worked like a charm. I'm at my wit's end. Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated. I have loads of pictures on my new memory card and don't want to have to format. Thanks
