Lost menu/tool bars

Asked by Purgatori

I have just start using Xubuntu and I don't know a lot about computers. I started my computer up this morning and the top and bottom menus/toolbars are missing from my desktop. After several hours of trying to find anything resembling how to restore them I am now even more confused and realize I know less than I thought:) I'm very embarrassed to ask but can some one help me and tell me how I can restore them in simple steps?

Cheers

If that doesn't work run:

gconftool --recursive-unset /apps/panel && killall gnome-panel

In an ALT+F2 dialogue
