Formatting Hard Drive in Xubuntu

Hello,
I am using Xubuntu on old laptop ( Presario M 2000) with 40GB. I am looking to format the Hard drive because there are toomany bad sectors found ( " I came to know this when I installed Ubuntu before). Please tell how to format my Hard drive.

If you are installing to the drive, the formatting is part of the parocess. You can let the automatic partitioning run and it will be fine. If you want something a bit more flash you can use:

10Gb Ext4 for /
Double your RAM amount for swap (if you have less than 2Gb RAM) or the same amount of swap space as you have RAM if you have 2Gb RAM or more
The rest formatted Ext4 for /home

The drive is dying (bad sectors are not good) so I suggest you grab a new drive to replace it.
