No higher resolution than 800:600 (4:3) with ubuntu 11.10

Asked by Sela

Hello.
I´ve installed Ubuntu 11.10 and it works pretty good. But I´ve got a problem with my monitor: I can get a higher resolution than 800:600. I has opened a couple of times with a possibility of higher resolution, but I open normally (like right now) and it doesn give me that option.
I think you need to now something about this command

lsb_release -crd; lspci

These are always painful. You will not get 3D accelleration, but you will get good 2D accellaration. If you rnn:

gksudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

You will get write access to the file, you can then find guides online as to what you need to add. The chip is cheap and will not play nice without the file.

Can you help with this problem?
