screen flickers in ubuntu 11.04

Asked by Sunil Nepal

I am facing the very similar problem. I installed ubuntu 11.04 and after rebooting the computer my screen flickers and i can't work in it. I have Intel 865G motherboard with inbuilt graphics card. I cant find any Additional drivers from system > Administration > Additional Drivers). Right now i'm logged in as ubuntu(no effects) and flickering is minimal in this mode.

The result of 'sudo lshw -c video':

consfire@consfire-desktop:~$ sudo lshw -c video
[sudo] password for consfire:

I hope you will find some solution for me as i'm kind of new in linux-ubuntu platform and can't figure it out on my own.

actually i just find out that, this flickering problem may be occurring because unity doesn't support graphics.

this might be useful as it somehow worked for me

still i'm not too happy with ubuntu 11.04 performance anyway....

What was the output then when running this in terminal?
/usr/lib/nux/unity_support_test -p

Did you already update right after installation to get the fix from this Bug #727594.

FWIW there is a user example regarding investigation of logfiles. Unfortunately you're not the only one.
