Xorg not working after install - livecd works fine (9.10)
Running karmic from the livecd now, and x works fine, as does gnome. However on the koala installed to hdd, x will not start - it actually boots straight into a terminal session. Startx says it can't load the specified driver, and aborts saying "no screens found".
I've tried configuring xorg to the best of my (weak) ability, to no avail. I started from the livecd now to find an xorg.conf that works, but there isn't one to be found.
Why on earth does x work on the livecd and not when installed?! The very same problem actually ocurred with backtrack 4 as well, only there would be no x even from the livecd...
The pc in question is a laptop, Asus x77jq. It has an ATi mobility radeon hd5730 display adapter, I'm not sure about chipset, display, etc.
I would love to use ubuntu as my primary os but this issue is a showstopper. :(
