My laptop model is Samsung Series 3 NP300V5A-S05IN.
I am not able to understand as to what to do with the above commands. I tried them in the terminal and the result is "No such file or directory". Is there anything else to do??
Thanks

Have you tried to press Fn+F3, does this enable it?

laya, please run:
sudo modprobe -r psmouse; sleep 2; sudo modprobe psmouse
does this enable it?
also, can you use the System Monitor to look if there's 2 instances(processes) of 'syndaemon', if so, kill one of them, and see what happens.
Hope it helps.

The command does not enable it. The 'syndaemon' process is present only once. There is only 1 instance. However, I noticed that the status of the process is 'sleeping'. Does that mean anything??

Try the boot option:

i8024.nopnp

or

i8024.reset

or

irqpoll

May help
