CX700 Video Driver Support for Zonbu Box (Unichrome Pro)

Asked by redwhitered

Can't get the Video driver to work.
Currently only standard VESA works.
Fullscreen Video is not possible.
I'm using Kubuntu 7.04 and tried 7.10 tribe 4.

The chipset is from Via (CX700) in a Zonbu Box computer.
There is the Openchrome project, but after compiling and changing the driver the X-Server didn't start.
So I changed back to VESA.

Is the new XOrg in the new Ubuntu going to support this chipset with mpeg2 accelleration?

Greetings,

J.

J,

I own a Zonbu too. Gutsy has version 0.2.6 (svn r357) of the Openchrome driver. After compiling r386 I've got X to work with the openchrome driver, but it's far from stable...

IMHO Zonbu should sponsor the openchrome project 'big time' so they can develop a stable, full featured driver. It's in Zonbu's best interest to do so...

H,

supporting the OpenChrome Project would be just logical.

On the other hand I am quite content with the OpenChrome driver as it is.
It works for me and is quite stable.
I use the experimental branch of OpenChrome in Kubuntu 7.04.
