I am unable to change the display resolution or detect my monitor
I was able to run UBUNTU from the CD with no problems. This is the first time I ma using an installed version of LINUX. I have used LINUX from bootable disks a few times.
After installing I am unable to detect my monitor or set the display resolution higher than 800 x 600.
The only option I can access in visual effects is none.
When I try to detect my monitor nothing happens.
My monitor is a large aging Philips CRT monitor.
I tried to use "Extra" to detect drivers.
I received the following error message "Desktop effects could not be enabled"
I am hoping to use LINUX to do photo editing and screen resolution is CRITICAL.
