Asked by Denis

I tried many times to install updates. After clicking on install, after authentication it starts and then says :- REQUIRES INSTALLATION OF UNTRUSTED PACKAGES . This requires installing packages from unauthenticated sources.

You have to type your password at the "[sudo] password for denisito:" prompt (as a confirmation for an administrative action), but please note tat you will not get any feedback (no echo, not even '*' placeholders).

Please try again and copy/paste all output.

Try the command

sudo chmod a+r /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/jockey-drivers.gpg*

and then re-execute

sudo apt-get update

and finally copy/paste all output as before.

There was a bit of a misunderstanding.
"and then re-execute ..." was part of my comment and should not have been interpreted as a request to install the program "and". In any case I do not expect that this does any harm.

Back to your problem:
It seems that correcting the access rights settings on the encryption key file has solved the problem; there are no error messages for the command "sudo apt-get update" any more.

If you now try updating your system, do you still see that "untrusted packages" warning?

Looks fine now, to me.

If you run:

sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get upgrade; sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Is it now up to date? If so then please mark as solved and cite reply #7 as the resolution

Thanks
