I need my screen resolution to go up to 1280x1024

Asked by KingOfOneself

I previously had windows xp and now I have ubuntu 9.10 it will not allow me to get the 1280x1024 resolution so my monitor looks a little chunky and I liked the slim no complex 1280.1024 so if anyone can please tell me what I need to type in the terminal or what I have to do to correct this.

Once again this is Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala

Thanks in advanced.

The Xorg.conf file is associated with X11.

to find the file if suspected to be installed already do the follwoing:

sudo updatedb

-then-

locate xorg.conf

this will then point to where the document is listed.

This can be installed in Ubuntu 9.10, if not already, with:

sudo apt-get install xorg

For more on xorg.conf it self http://linux.die.net/man/1/xorg
