I am getting broken link message while installing WINE on ubuntu 9.1, plz help.

Asked by mindae

sudo apt-get install wine[sudo] password for mindae1:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
google-gadgets: Depends: libkrb53 (>= 1.6.dfsg.2) but it is not installable
Depends: flex but it is not going to be installed
wine: Depends: wine1.2 but it is not going to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

I have tried and again I am seeing the same message as below ...
$ sudo apt-get -f install wine
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
wine: Depends: wine1.2 but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages

What external repositories are you using? What is the output shown by these commands?

apt-cache policy wine
apt-cache policy wine1.2

Anyway, to solve your problem, try following the suggestion given by apt and install wine1.2 instead of wine:

sudo apt-get install wine1.2
