WICD feature request. Forward to WICD develpers.
I have found others besides myself wanting a very simple way to monitor Net Traffic.
Examples: IM connections + Is the new contact trying to hack attack me as in probe or crash me.
Note: I & They do not know or understand what Wireshark is for or any other complicated apps.
We are just everyday users not knowing how the Firewall works nor really care & not wanting to add firewall control such as Firestarter. Firestarter does not do the job wanted BTW. The Firewall in Ubuntu works -Out Of Box for me. I have used this site http://
I am a former Windows user who loves Ubuntu over all OS's else I've tried. It is definitely superior to Windows, I had way to many problems with Windows registery, malware, adware, firewall, antivirus suite & so on as to why i switched. Ubuntu does not require registery cleaning & malware - adware does not affect it is simple to maintain over windows, I highly recommend it to others.
However there are those hackers out there who try hard to cause grief to others by hack attacks on pc's.
I & they merely want a GUI window simple & easy to view what is connecting or attempting attack.
A simple tool that will tell who is mis-behaving, & is a hacker trying to do harm.
WICD seems to be perfect network manager so far, why not give it more features.
I myself have added random contacts to IM's that were up to no good using some kind of software to attempt to crash my PC.
WICD is better than Network Manager. This is a Wish for feature added to WICD to do the above function, just a simple window / monitor ALERT ! to let me see who is doing what Probing ? Hacking ? I have installed Iptstate & can't get it to work.
Others I have found while searching want the same thing.
Thank you.
