Using VLC Player: no sound with movies

Using VLC Player and have cloned the desktop to the TV and when play movies have picture but no sound . Need help?

Hello, Lori. :-)

On my Hardy install, VLC will play sound on my laptop, but not my TV. Do you not get sound regularly, either?

I have sound within the system playing games. The movies have no sound in all players. There was sound with the movies in windows XP.

Start up VLC. Go to Settings --> Preferences --> Audio --> Output modules. Enable the advanced options on the bottom right corner. Change the Audio output from ALSA to Linux OSS, and restart VLC.
