I Can't Reinstall Recent Version Of VLC - Help!

Unfortunately, I had issues with the most recent version of VLC (9.2.0), so I decided to purge, remove it and reinstall it. When I did try to reinstall it, it wouldn't load up at all and I got the following error message. Can someone please help me with this problem? thanks.

Please don't send any bug report about unofficial vlc...

How have you installed the vlc 9.2.0 wich insn't into ufficial repository...?

marcobra, how are you? You asked a good question. The answer is, I enabled the multiverse mirror then ran:

- sudo apt-get update
- sudo apt-get install vlc vlc-plugin-esd mozilla-plugin-vlc

Now, the problem is that I purged vlc and removed the .vlc directory from my home folder to help me reinstall vlc. The strange thing is that when I reinstall vlc then uninstall it, I can't find that directory anymore. That's strange!

Marcobra, if I can't get vlc 9.2.0 installed again, than, can you show me how to install the previous version, 8.6.0?

Hi, Marcobra. Here's the results of what you had asked. Do you think the solution lies in removing the last line of my sources.list (that has to do with the most recent version of VLC), which is: deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/c-korn/ubuntu hardy main ? Then, should I reload and see if I can get the previous version of VLC which is 8.6.0?

Yes, remove that last line, save and then run in a Terminal (Applications > Accessories > terminal):

gksudo apt-get update

(Enter your password in the dialog that pops up)

Once that command has finished, run the command:

gksudo apt-get remove --purge vlc vlc-plugin-esd mozilla-plugin-vlc vlc* && sudo apt-get install vlc vlc-plugin-esd mozilla-plugin-vlc vlc*
