the problem of playing .mkv files on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

when I play a .mkv file with the default programe on the Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, the playing speed is slower than normal, and the voice is unclear,how should I solve the promblem. I come from China. and I planed to change my OS on PC from Windows XP to Ubuntu one month ago, and I met many difficulties.

Please try to install VLC from Synaptic then try to open your .mkv file with it. Should work better.

I tried,VLC , it can play .mkv file,the quality of the picture is very good,but it has no voice. KPlayer can play the .mkv file with voice, but the quality of the picture is not as good the VLC player.
The two kinds of player have no good support for Chinese language，when I switch the subtitle language from English to Chinese, The Chinese character is shown as "口口口口口口口口"。
